Andechs

Germany

Andechs Abbey, a Benedictine monastery that has brewed beer since 1455, is the main draw to this small Bavarian town in the Starnberg district. The monastery offers brewery tours, and the composer Carl Orff is buried in its chapel. Andechs is also home to Germany's largest organic dairy. The surrounding area offers scenic viewpoints, and the town sits close to water and the mountains of the wider region.
