Al Battaliyah
Saudi Arabia
One of the surviving villages of historic Al-Ahsa, Al Battaliyah sits amid palm groves in the Al-Ahsa governorate of eastern Saudi Arabia, a short drive northeast of Hofuf. The village traces its documented history at least to the early 20th century and is associated with the medieval Arabic grammarian Muhammad ibn Mubarak al-Luwaymi al-Biladi, whose mosque still stands here. The wider Al-Ahsa region holds UNESCO World Heritage recognition, and mountains and water are within easy reach.
