Abadeh

Iran

A town in Fars province, Iran, known for two distinct crafts: intricately carved woodwork made from pear and box trees, and hand-woven Abadeh rugs. Givehdouzi — the making of traditional woven shoes — also flourishes here. The area produces sesame oil, castor oil, grain, and various fruits, and sits near the meeting point of Fars, Isfahan, and Yazd provinces, making it a practical base for exploring several regions of south-central Iran.
